We are keen to link with many other Campbell and Cochrane entities, particularly to share provide skills and expertise pertaining to the development of methods. We have collaborated with a number of Collaborating Groups, Collaborative Review Groups, Methods Groups and Fields. Such groups include the Cochrane Developing Countries Network, the Consumers and Communication Group, and the Cochrane Field of Health Promotion and Public Health.
We have completed a project with the Cochrane Musculoskeletal Group (CMSG) to assess equity in CMSG rheumatoid arthritis reviews. Our study focused on how equity was measured and reported in the original studies compared with the Cochrane review. Our findings were presented in an oral paper session at the XV Cochrane Colloquium in Sao Paulo (Oct. 2007). We have also submitted a manuscript on this work for publication.
Review authors from various Collaborative Review Groups - including the Cochrane Effective Practice and Organisation of Care Group (EPOC) and the Cochrane Developmental, Psychosocial and Learning Problems Group - have presented their reviews at working sessions of the Cochrane Health Equity Field and Campbell Equity Methods Group. These authors have kindly allowed us to use their reviews as examples for equity and as test subjects for equity methods tools; their feedback and input have been and will continue to be invaluable as we move forward.
We have agreed with Miranda Mugford that we will partner with the Health Economics Methods Group to investigate the equity aspects of the cost-effectiveness analyses in Campbell and Cochrane systematic reviews. She has indicated that this work is not currently underway, but that there is a need for it to be moved forward, and would be interested in helping, if led by another entity.
We will collaborate with the Qualitative Research Methods Group to examine the "normative" aspects of inequalities and inequities.
